This Primary FRCA OSCE course is a focused, expert-led coaching day designed to help candidates move beyond revision alone and learn how to answer effectively in the OSCE exam. The emphasis is on how to translate knowledge into marks: how to stay structured, communicate clearly, prioritise key points, avoid common errors and answer in a safe, examiner-friendly way. Rather than using passive teaching or one-to-one station rotations, the course uses a relaxed group format in which answers may be corrected and refined live, allowing candidates to understand what examiners are looking for, where marks are commonly lost, and what truly helps turn an average performance into a pass.

Primary FRCA OSCE Masterclass - 11 May 2026

08:30 - 11:30 TBC

12:00 - 19:00 Expert led intensive coaching session

The Primary FRCA OSCE is not simply a test of knowledge. It is a test of how well a candidate can apply knowledge under pressure, communicate clearly, stay structured, prioritise important points and demonstrate safe exam technique within a limited time. Many candidates know the subject reasonably well, but still lose marks because their answers are unfocused, incomplete, poorly phrased or not delivered in the style the exam requires.

OSCE preparation is therefore highly useful because it helps candidates move beyond revision alone. It teaches them how to translate knowledge into marks. A good OSCE course should help candidates recognise what examiners are actually looking for, where marks are commonly lost, how to structure responses efficiently, and how to speak in a way that sounds safe, clear and examiner-friendly.

Our course is designed around that principle. It is not based on passive teaching, and it is not a series of one-to-one OSCE stations. Instead, it is a focused, expert-led coaching course built to show candidates how to perform well across Primary FRCA OSCE stations in a high-yield way.

The emphasis is on how to answer, not just what to know. Candidates are shown how to approach different station types, how to structure responses quickly, how to avoid common mistakes, and how to present answers in a way that gains marks. Particular attention is given to the points that often separate a pass from a borderline performance: clarity, prioritisation, relevance, fluency, exam technique and the ability to communicate simple, safe and structured answers.

One of the main strengths of the course is that it makes explicit the areas candidates often struggle with but may not recognise on their own. These include:

  • overcomplicating straightforward stations
  • giving disorganised answers
  • missing obvious scoring points
  • failing to tailor the depth of response to the station
  • speaking vaguely rather than precisely
  • losing marks through poor technique rather than lack of knowledge

Why this course is different

Our course is different because it uses expert-led teaching to highlight what works and what does not. Candidates are shown what a strong OSCE answer actually sounds like, why weaker answers lose marks, and how to improve performance in real time. This helps bridge the gap between private revision, and actual exam delivery.

Our teaching focuses on:

  • what examiners want to hear
  • how marks are really gained in OSCE stations
  • where candidates commonly lose marks
  • what to say
  • how to say it
  • what level of detail is enough
  • what truly matters for a pass
  • This makes the course especially useful for candidates who:
    • have revised extensively but are unsure how to perform in the exam
    • want clearer guidance on OSCE technique
    • want to understand the difference between an average answer and a high-scoring one
    • benefit from seeing answers actively improved and discussed
    • want focused, practical preparation close to the exam

This group OSCE course allows candidates to learn from observing each other. This is valuable in OSCE preparation because seeing common mistakes, hearing stronger reworded answers, and understanding why one response scores better than another often accelerates improvement very quickly.

Important to know

  • Answers may be interrupted, corrected and refined live to help candidates develop stronger exam technique
  • Designed to give clear tips, better phrasing and safer structure, while helping candidates avoid common errors
  • Many other courses offer one-to-one OSCE station practice, which is useful for exam-style mock experience
  • Our course is different in that it provides greater depth of teaching in a more relaxed, coaching-led format
  • The emphasis is not just on practising stations, but on understanding why answers score, why answers fail, and how to improve in real time
